“Madzibaba” arrested over alleged rape and extortion of client in Chitungwiza

A Chitungwiza-based self-styled prophet has been arrested for allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman and taking her vehicle.

Comrade Chinyanga, popularly known as Madzibaba Masimba, who operates a shrine near Pagomba in Zengeza 4, allegedly lured the woman to his shrine, claiming she had items lodged in her private parts that were causing misfortunes in her life.

The victim told H-Metro that he claimed he needed to use his hands to remove the items, and then allegedly raped her once without protection.

Afterwards, he claimed to have removed five items and demanded US$3,000 as payment.

“I confronted him over the rape, and he went on to demand US$3,000 as payment for removing the so-called items. I didn’t have that kind of money, and he ordered me to leave my vehicle plus my mobile phone as security,” she said.

“Because of fear, and after being traumatised, I handed over the car keys and the cellphone for my freedom and left the shrine. I reported the case.”

Police recovered the vehicle on Monday at a garage at Chikwana Shopping Centre.
