Zimbabwe’s Young Warriors arrived in Mauritius on Friday ahead of the second leg of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations Under-23 qualifier on Tuesday.

The team carries a 2-0 advantage into the return fixture after beating Mauritius in the first leg at the National Sports Stadium last Wednesday.

David Chigwada and Nisbert Muzenda were on target in that match to give Zimbabwe a comfortable lead heading into the away leg.

The result leaves the Young Warriors well placed to complete the job and progress to the next round of qualifying, where Mali await the winners.

The second leg is scheduled for Tuesday, 6 October, in Mauritius.

The tie also forms part of the qualification pathway for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, adding further significance to the encounter.

Coach Marc Sanchez, who marked his debut with the first-leg win on Wednesday, will be taking charge of only his second match.

He said he wants his side to maintain defensive discipline and avoid conceding.

“We just hope to stage another good performance in Mauritius, most importantly to avoid conceding. One thing is, they will come at us, and we have to be ready for that,” Sanchez said.
