ZANU PF Mashonaland West Province has tabled 26 resolutions for consideration at the ruling party’s 2026 Annual National People’s Conference. The conference will be held in Chinhoyi in October.

The resolutions were among key issues discussed at two provincial meetings held last week. The meetings – the Provincial Coordinating Committee and the Provincial Inter-District – brought together party leaders and grassroots members.

Among the resolutions is the unequivocal endorsement of President and First Secretary Emmerson Mnangagwa. The province wants him to be elected as First Secretary and President of ZANU PF at the next party congress.

The province also resolved that the ZANU PF constitution be reviewed. It said the constitution should be aligned, where necessary, with the Constitution of Zimbabwe, as amended. This includes provisions relating to the tenure and electoral cycles of party structures.

Another resolution calls for the expeditious implementation of Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3. The province said this should be done in accordance with the Constitution, applicable legislation and established party procedures.

Speaking during the meeting in Chinhoyi on Saturday, ZANU PF Politburo member Ziyambi Ziyambi said the province had included Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3 among its resolutions.

He said, however, that Government had already begun implementing some provisions of the legislation.

He cited two measures that are already underway. These include the forwarding of senatorial candidates’ names to Parliament and the transfer of the voters’ roll from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) to the Registrar-General’s Office.
