Chivayo Offers Winky D A Brand-New BMW X5 If He Contacts Him

Wicknell Chivayo says he is ready to buy Winky D a brand-new luxury vehicle tomorrow – if the musician asks for it himself.

Speaking on the Denny J Show, the controversial businessman said he holds no grudge against Winky D over the chanter’s alleged support for the opposition. Despite their political differences, he said, he wants to see the award-winning artist finally enjoy the rewards of his long career.

His concern, he said, is why a musician of Winky D’s stature is still driving second-hand Japanese imports.

Chivayo said Winky D deserves to be in a brand-new luxury car, specifically mentioning a BMW X5 as the kind of vehicle he would like to see him driving.

The offer, he explained, was about economics, not politics. Local musicians, he argued, struggle to afford expensive vehicles from performance fees alone.

He claimed Winky D makes around US$3,000 to US$4,000 per show – not enough, he said, to simply walk into a dealership and buy a new luxury vehicle. His gesture is meant to bridge that gap.

There would be no complicated process, he added. Winky D would just need to contact him and ask.

But Chivayo said there was one condition: he would not be approaching Winky D first.

The reason is not political, but personal embarrassment. He said he does not want to make a generous public offer, have it rejected, and end up in the same situation he faced with ZAOGA’s Eunor Guti.

Chivayo had offered Guti a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series VXR and US$250,000 in cash. He framed the gift as an act of generosity and a way to honour the late Archbishop Ezekiel Guti, whom he said had encouraged him years earlier to give to the church.

Guti declined the offer. She later said she had prayed about it and did not believe there was the “mind and will of God” in accepting the gift. She said it did not align with principles she associated with her late husband, adding that she already had a vehicle.
