Hip-hop artist Mukudzei Chitsama, popularly known as Holy Ten, has been remanded to 27 August as investigations continue into allegations that he raped a 14-year-old girl.
Chitsama, who is out on US$500 bail, briefly appeared in court on Friday, 7 August, before the matter was postponed to allow investigations to be finalised.
Under his bail conditions, the “Ucharamba Uchipisa” hitmaker is required to report to the police once a week, reside at his given address and not interfere with State witnesses.
It is alleged that on the day of the incident last month, Chitsama took the girl to his bedroom at his home in Hatfield, Harare, while other people were in another room.
It is alleged he locked the door from inside, threatened to kill her if she did not comply with his instructions, and raped her once. The girl had recently returned from South Africa.
The two reportedly met on social media after Chitsama allegedly asked her to feature in an upcoming music video.
It is alleged that at around 3 pm, the teenager phoned Chitsama to inform him that she was on her way to a studio in Avondale. She went with a friend to where the musician was recording and waited for him to finish.
At around 6 pm, her friend left for home. The teenager and Chitsama then allegedly proceeded to his Hatfield home, ostensibly to record videos. It is there that the alleged rape occurred.
It is further alleged that after the incident, Chitsama hired a taxi for the teenager to return home. Upon arriving home, she reported the alleged rape to her aunt, leading to his arrest.
