Woman, 23, Escapes Sex Attack By grabbing Assailant’s Genitals As He Tried To Rape Her

A 41-year-old man from Honde Valley has been sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment for attempting to rape a 23-year-old fellow villager.

The Mutare Magistrates Court heard that the man committed the offence on 29 June 2026 at around 11 pm, after leaving a local bar and going to the woman’s homestead.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the woman heard noises outside her house and looked through the window, where she saw the man trying to force it open. In an attempt to scare him away, she threw avocados through the window, but he refused to leave.

The court heard that he then forced open the door, which had been locked from inside, entered the house and dragged the victim to a nearby forest. There, he removed her dress and used it to gag her before attempting to rape her.

The woman resisted and grabbed the man by the genitals, forcing him to stop. She managed to remove the gag and scream for help.

A fellow villager heard her cries and rushed to the scene. The assailant tried to flee but was apprehended at the scene.

The matter was reported to police, leading to his arrest, prosecution and conviction for attempted rape.
