A Beitbridge man who was found close to death with stab wounds told rescuers that his girlfriend’s ex-partner had attacked him in a fit of rage.

Vusumuzi Mbedzi was stabbed at the Limpopo Business Centre in Beitbridge at around 2 am last Friday.

He told first responders that he had been stabbed by Maxwell Siziba, 34, who was allegedly in a relationship with Mbedzi’s partner, Bianca Moyo.

Siziba and three alleged accomplices — Mike Siziba, 21, Victor Fukaribi, 28, and Mthabisi Tshuma, 23 — have since been arrested and charged with murder.

The four appeared at Beitbridge Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and were remanded in custody.

Police say that on the day in question, Siziba and the others spotted Mbedzi at Limpopo Business Centre.

They allegedly dragged him aside and assaulted him with a sharp object, causing fatal head injuries. They then fled, leaving him lying in a pool of blood.

Two men who had been drinking at the business centre found Mbedzi and carried him to a veranda at Murendeni Night Club while they looked for help to get him to the hospital.

Before he died on the veranda, Mbedzi allegedly told the men that Siziba and his accomplices had stabbed him.

Police who attended the scene found two stab wounds — one to the back of his head and another below his left ear. Siziba and the others were later arrested.

Investigations suggest Mbedzi was in a relationship with Moyo, who had a long-standing relationship with Siziba.
