Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo made FIFA World Cup history on Tuesday, 23 June, by becoming the first player ever to score in six different editions of the tournament.
Ronaldo achieved the milestone during Portugal’s 2026 FIFA World Cup match against Uzbekistan, scoring twice to extend a remarkable goalscoring record that began at the 2006 World Cup in Germany and continued through the 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022 and 2026 tournaments.
The two goals also took Ronaldo’s World Cup tally to 10, moving him past Portuguese great Eusébio, who scored nine goals at the tournament.
At 41 years and 138 days old, Ronaldo also became the second-oldest player ever to score at a World Cup, behind only Roger Milla.
The Portugal captain has further cemented his place in football history by joining Lionel Messi and Guillermo Ochoa as the only players to have appeared in six different FIFA World Cup tournaments.
