The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League has said there will be no ticket sales at the stadium for the much-anticipated match between Scottland and CAPS United at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday
The decision comes after the ZRP said tickets should be sold before matches to prevent a possible stampede.
The PSL advised fans to buy tickets online, adding that none will be sold at the gates.
“Secure your seat early for this blockbuster encounter at the National Sports Stadium this Sunday… No tickets will be sold at the gates,” the PSL said on Thursday.
The move follows the mayhem at the Hardrock versus Dynamos match at Chahwanda Stadium on Sunday. The game was abandoned due to crowd trouble, and several fans were injured.
After the match, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said it was investigating why nearly 5,000 fans were still outside the stadium when the game kicked off. Some later damaged stadium infrastructure and forced their way in.
Police said those fans contributed to the violent scenes inside the ground.
“The police urge soccer authorities to ensure stadium seating capacity is not exceeded, and tickets are pre-sold before the match to curtail stampedes such as the one witnessed before the match at Chihwanda stadium,” said ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Nyathi.
Meanwhile, the PSL has contacted Hardrock to identify people photographed allegedly involved in violence when the match was abandoned.
“The Premier Soccer League kindly requests your assistance through your structures in identifying the unnamed individuals appearing in the attached pictures and many more visuals circulating on social media taken during the abandoned Castle Lager PSL match at Chahwanda Stadium on Sunday, 24 May 2026,” wrote PSL Chief Executive Officer Rodwell Thabe.
“The identification of these individuals will assist the PSL in its efforts to bring these alleged culprits to book and strengthen measures aimed at dealing with violence and crowd disturbances at football matches.
“We would appreciate receiving any information that may assist in identifying these individuals and many more captured visuals that may be in your possession.”
