Hardrock Football Club has condemned the pitch invasion and acts of vandalism that led to the abandonment of its Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash with Dynamos at Chahwanda Stadium on Sunday, 24 May 2026.
In a statement released on Monday, the club said the match was called off following “unfortunate incidents of crowd trouble” that disrupted play, caused injuries and damaged stadium property.
“Football thrives on passion, but that passion must never compromise the safety of players, officials, supporters and other stakeholders,” the club said.
Hardrock commended medical teams at the ground for their swift response and extended “heartfelt sympathies” to all those injured. “We wish them a full and speedy recovery,” the statement added.
The club said it remains “firmly committed to discipline, respect, and the protection of our community and facilities,” and called on supporters to express their passion responsibly.
Hardrock FC confirmed that it is fully cooperating with the relevant authorities and the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League in ongoing investigations. The club said it wants to ensure those who breached security regulations are held accountable.
The incidents at Chahwanda Stadium have drawn widespread criticism, with the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) also condemning violence, intimidation and disorder at matches.
