The Grain Marketing Board (GMB) has announced new government-approved producer prices for the 2025/26 summer season following consultations with stakeholders.
Farmers will receive US$364.75 per metric tonne for maize and traditional grains, while soya beans are priced at US$583.01 per metric tonne. Sunflower commands the highest price at US$670.46 per metric tonne.
GMB Chief Executive Officer Edson Badarai announced the prices in a statement dated 14 April 2026.
In recent years, many grain farmers have been reluctant to sell to GMB due to concerns over delayed payments.
Last week, Badarai said the board had disbursed more than US$32.3 million and ZiG 296.3 million to farmers for the 2024/25 harvest.
