Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Tongai Mafidi Mnangagwa, has launched a football club called Hunyani United.

The club was officially registered last Friday in the Mashonaland East Division Two league.

Mnangagwa said the team is aimed at giving young people in Hunyani Constituency, which he represents in the National Assembly, a chance to showcase their talent. He said:

“This is a proud moment for us, and we are committed to nurturing local talent and promoting football in the region, particularly in Hunyani Constituency.

“This club has been founded to give youth in the constituency a platform to showcase their talents.

“Only players from Hunyani will be signed for the club. We have a clear vision for the club, and we are excited to see it come to life.”

Mnangagwa said the focus is on building strong team spirit and developing players who can reach the top, growing the game from the grassroots rather than “buying” success.

Jeremy Tongai Mnangagwa serves as the club’s chairman, with Basil Makoni as coach, Knowmore Chiveve as team manager, and Armstrong Chimanimire in charge of kit.
