Dynamos players and the club’s management are in dispute over unpaid bonuses, just days before the team faces Triangle United in the 2025 Chibuku Super Cup final at Gibbo Stadium.
The club says it has paid part of the money owed, but the players insist that nothing has been settled.
One player said that Treasurer Justice Mubayi visited training this week and only spoke to the senior players, and told them they had been paid on the day they played Bikita Minerals. Said the player:
“We did receive some money after the Bikita game, which we were told is for motivation.
“The fact that they decided to meet with senior players only, sidelining us, also tells a story.
“They knew that seniors are cautious in how they handle such issues, and it would be easy for them to get back to training.”
Dynamos players said the club gave them money after the 1-0 win over Bikita at Rufaro, which they said was presented as a motivation token, not the bonuses they are owed.
However, the club said he same funds were actually meant to cover outstanding bonuses rather than serve as motivation.
Dynamos Marketing executive David Chikomo maintains that most dues were cleared, except for November. Said Chikomo:
“We only owe them bonuses for three November games, unfortunately, when we paid them after the Bikita game, they did not understand what the funds were for.
“So we sat down yesterday and cleared the issues. As for the November bonuses, we will give them when we pay their salaries just after the Chibuku finals.”
Chikomo admits some players are still owed signing-on fees from this season and the last. He says the club is mobilising funds to settle those as well.
After a meeting between club officials and senior players, the players returned to training.
They say they returned to training only because the urgency of preparing for the final outweighs their frustration.
However, there is now friction between senior players and junior players as junior players suspect that senior players were secretly paid their dues, hence their decision to resume training.
