ZRP Urges Citizens To Report Rogue Officers And Impersonators

Essential Tools

Police have called on the public to report any rogue officers or individuals impersonating police officers who engage in misconduct, including demanding bribes, acting suspiciously, or failing to show proper identification.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) advised that such incidents can be reported via the hotlines 0713 407 906, (0242) 443 457, (0242) 703 631, or at any local police station.

In an unrelated case, the ZRP confirmed the discovery of a burned body of an unidentified female at Kutsaga Research Farm, Hatfield, Harare, on 13 May 2025 at around 3 PM.

The body was taken to Chitungwiza Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem, which determined the victim was a young female, approximately 17 years old.

Anyone with information that could help identify the victim is asked to report to the nearest police station or contact the National Complaints Desk on (0242) 703 631 or via WhatsApp on 0712 800 197.

I would like to advise that every couple of months we have undercover police enter our shop and walk around without notifying us who they are and after pretending to be interested in our products – they proceed to threaten us with arrest due to a new license that we are not informed about – last year they even manhandled a junior member of staff until we actually had to get security to intervene – we are tired as business owners of being under constant threat. Today we were told of another new permit we needed to operate that we were not aware of – we immediately said no problem` we will regularize that (bearing in mind that I already pay for three different licenses that are displayed in my shop window!) – they said too late we are here to arrest you and your staff immediately. I advised them that we should at least have a grace period and they said no – you should have known better – I had to phone their supervisor who finally convinced them that it was indeed our right to have a grace period. I want to know when this heavy-handed bully mentality from the ZRP (“we are here to serve”) is going to end?
