The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has summoned Ngezi Platinum Stars and their head coach, Takesure Chiragwi, to appear before the PSL Disciplinary Committee following incidents that occurred during their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium on 4 October 2025.

During the match, Chiragwi slapped midfielder McDonald Makuwe as the player tried to calm him down after a disputed goal was awarded to Dynamos.

The coach had just been shown a red card by referee Lawrence Zimhondi for insulting the official and aggressively protesting the goal.

The altercation was caught live on national television and quickly went viral on social media, drawing widespread condemnation.

Chiragwi has since issued a public apology and resigned as the Warriors’ assistant coach, admitting that his behaviour was “wholly inappropriate and unbecoming of a coach”.

In a statement issued on Monday, 13 October, PSL Communications and Media Liaison Officer Kudzai Bare said Chiragwi faces charges of violent and disorderly conduct, as well as improper behaviour likely to bring the game of football into disrepute.

Ngezi Platinum Stars also face charges of disrupting the normal proceedings of a match and improper conduct by their technical team and players.

Bare said the disciplinary hearings will be held at the PSL offices on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, at 5:30 PM.
