The announcement was made by GMB Chief Executive Officer Edson Badarai in a statement issued on Wednesday, 8 October. Said Badarai:

“The Grain Marketing Board (GMB) is pleased to announce that it has received USD 5 million from Treasury to facilitate payments for cereals deliveries.

“The funding will enable GMB to clear some of the outstanding payments owed to farmers, bringing positive impact on the agricultural sector, as farmers will be able to invest in their business.

“The Board is also grateful to the Treasury for this financial support, and appreciates Hon. Minister Dr. A. J. Masuka’s support and facilitation on this front.
