Zimbabwe’s gold deliveries rose to 32.98 tonnes in the first nine months of 2025, according to the latest statistics from Fidelity Gold Refinery (FGR).
The increase, up from 24.2 tonnes over the same period last year, puts the country on track to meet its ambitious 40-tonne national target for the year.
Small-scale miners delivered 24.5 tonnes of gold by September, a significant rise from the 14.6 tonnes recorded during the same period in 2024. This sector now accounts for nearly 75 per cent of the country’s total gold output.
In contrast, deliveries from large-scale mining companies fell to 8.54 tonnes in the first nine months of 2025, down from 9.55 tonnes a year earlier.
Recent reports suggest that some large-scale miners are routing part of their production through small-scale networks, allegedly to circumvent the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s requirement that 30 per cent of earnings be retained in local currency, as small-scale miners are allowed to retain 100 per cent of their revenue in hard currency.
September was the strongest month for gold production, with deliveries peaking at 4.4 tonnes.
Meanwhile, gold prices on global markets have reached record levels, surpassing US$4,000 per ounce.
