A 19-year-old man from Zimunya township in Mutare has been sentenced to 175 hours of community service after being convicted of engaging in sexual activity with a hen.
The Mutare Magistrates’ Court initially handed Carrington Mutasa an eight-month prison term.
However, three months were suspended for five years, and the remaining five months were set aside on condition that he completes the community service.
The incident took place on 16 September at around 5:30 PM, when Mutasa unlawfully entered a homestead in Zimunya Village and accessed the fowl run. It was there that he committed the offence.
A child who witnessed him leaving the fowl run raised the alarm, leading to his arrest.
