Wicknell Chivayo has gifted a luxury vehicle and cash to a young religious leader who praised the legacy of the founder of the Johanne Masowe Chishanu apostolic sect.
In a post on his social media pages on Friday, 12 September, Chivayo, who is also a member of the sect, expressed his deep admiration for Prophet Michael Sello, whose recent sermon paid tribute to Baba Johane, the founder of the religious organisation.
Chivayo described the sermon as one that left a “permanent imprint” on his spirit, praising Sello’s recognition of the prophetic gifts and spiritual endurance of the early indigenous church leaders. Said Chivayo:
“Baba Johane endured persecution and even imprisonment, yet he would be found outside the prison each morning, vakapfeka nguwo chena, vachinamata, vachiimba Hossanna.”
According to Chivayo, Prophet Sello’s sermon also acknowledged Baba Sixpence (Johanne Masowe), regarded as the father of apostolic prophecy.
Baba Sixpence is said to have foretold the fall of white minority rule and the emergence of a leader named after the angel Gabriel—a reference widely interpreted as pointing to Zimbabwe’s first Prime Minister and Executive President, Robert Gabriel Mugabe.
Chivayo praised Sello for his spiritual maturity and for respecting chinamato chechipositori, a form of worship often marginalised by mainstream churches.
He also commended the prophet for fostering unity across denominations and for honouring the Johanne Masowe Chishanu congregation.
In recognition of Sello’s teachings, Chivayo announced a generous gift: a brand-new 2025 Toyota Fortuner 4×4 GD6, fully paid for and ready for collection at Exquisite Motors, along with US$50,000 in cash to support Sello’s church and its outreach activities.
