We provide a vital service to these people and I hope we also get fair treatment. When I was Down South I met a lot of well-off domestic workers who were earning enough to send children here in Zimbabwe to better boarding schools. I know it is not possible to get that kind of remuneration here. If it was gardeners they had very good cars either given for free or they were sold extremely low at say R15000 at say R1000 deductions and most said they only had a maximum of up to 6 months and then they stopped having the deductions. They said their bosses (who all were White) would say the deductions were so that the gardeners would know that the cars were really theirs unlike when you don’t pay a single cent you will feel it could be taken back.
