The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has demanded a detailed report from Yadah Football Club over the violent assault of the team’s goalkeeper in the dressing room.
Goalkeeper Godknows Gurure was attacked on Friday by a Yadah FC stakeholder after the club’s 3-2 defeat to Ngezi Platinum Stars at The Heart Stadium. The assailant reportedly accused him of conceding “silly goals.”
In a statement on Sunday, 24 June, PSL spokesperson Kudzai Bare confirmed the league had received a complaint from the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe over the assault allegations. Said Bare:
“The Premier Soccer League acknowledges receipt of a complaint from the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe regarding allegations of assault on a Yadah FC player by a Yadah FC official.
“We have requested the concerned Club to submit detailed reports in addition to the match reports in order for us to establish the facts surrounding this incident.
“The League takes such matters seriously and has commenced investigations into the incident.
“The safety, security and welfare of players, officials and all stakeholders remain our top priority and appropriate measures will be taken in line with our rules and regulations once all relevant reports have been reviewed.
“The PSL will not make any further comment until the necessary reports have been received and the investigation has been concluded.”
