85-Year-Old Man Assaulted After Refusing Woman’s Sexual Proposal

An 85-year-old man was struck on the neck with an axe by a woman who allegedly demanded sex from him after he rejected her advances.

The incident occurred around 5 PM on Sunday, 10 August, in Kensington, Bulawayo, at a plot where the complainant works as a caretaker.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said the accused, a woman known to the complainant by face, entered the caretaker’s room and made the demand. Said Inspector Msebele:

“The complainant refused and this did not go down well with the accused person who then picked up an axe which was in the room and struck the complainant once on the neck.”

The blow left the victim with “a deep cut on the right side of the neck.” He reported the matter to the police before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

Insp Msebele urged members of the public to desist from violence and resolve disputes peacefully.

She also appealed to anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts to report to the nearest police station.

In a separate incident, Police in Kwekwe have arrested two men in their twenties for allegedly murdering a 40-year-old woman at a bar after she rejected one of their romantic advances.

In a statement posted on their X page on Monday, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the arrest of Thembinkosi Ndlovu (22) and Nkosinomusa Moyo (24) over the murder, which took place on Sunday, 10 August, in a bar at Mutegude Shops, Redcliff.

Police said the suspects attacked the victim, Rosemary Diana (40), after she rejected Moyo’s romantic advances.

Ndlovu reportedly struck the victim multiple times with a cooking stick, while Moyo stabbed her in the back with a knife.
