South Africa’s national rail operator, Transnet, has reintroduced its luxury tourist train service between Pretoria and Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe’s premier tourism destination.
The iconic Blue Train arrived in Victoria Falls early on Thursday morning from Pretoria, marking the revival of the route last operated in 2001.
Blue Train Acting Manager Mosa Matlhtsi promised to attract more passengers to the route. She said:
“We are so excited to bring our guests to Africa’s most iconic destination. We are promising to bring more people on this route. We are backed by popular demand.
“Our clients are so happy, and we are already all over social media and are getting questions and inquiries about our next trip. We will be back in a few weeks.”
A tourist, Thompsons Japan’s Chief Executive Officer, Eri Odagiri, said:
“We have been to Zambezi National Park, this morning and we were very excited to see animals. We were also excited to see the Victoria Falls.
“What is also interesting is that you have nice, friendly people and nice food.
“And of course, I will keep on marketing Victoria Falls to the Japanese source market.”
