Chaminuka Adamant Dynamos Won’t Be Relegated

Dynamos coach Saul Chaminuka doesn’t believe the Harare giants will be relegated from the Premier Soccer League (PSL), despite their current position on the log.

DeMbare are deep in trouble, sitting in the relegation zone and eight points away from safety after their 1-0 defeat to Simba Bhora at Wadzanayi Stadium over the weekend.

It was their ninth loss of the season. They’ve only managed two wins from 20 matches, hardly the kind of form you’d expect from a club with such a proud history.

Many already see a return to the ZIFA Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) as inevitable. But not Chaminuka. The coach, who has won just one game since taking over in May, insists they can still turn things around. He said:

There are still plenty of games to play. If you look at the teams, we are not very far away. Maybe five or six teams are in the 25 [points], what we need is to win twice on the trot and we are out of the relegation zone.

We are capable of winning the matches. If games are handled well, we will win games. We are going to win games and we are going to survive.

Dynamos remain eight points adrift of safety with just 15 points so far, as the outcome of their abandoned match against FC Platinum is still pending.
