Search For Missing Binga Fisherman Ends In Crocodile’s Stomach

Parts of a human body and a shoe were discovered inside a crocodile that was shot and killed by rangers from the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) after it fatally attacked a fisherman at Lake Kariba.

The victim, Jethro Moyo, a fisherman from Binga, was killed by the reptile last week at Chikuyu fishing camp.

Among the remains recovered from the crocodile’s stomach were lungs, a liver, part of the intestines, and a shoe belonging to Moyo.

According to Trust Munkuli, a colleague of the deceased, the incident occurred at around 7 PM on Wednesday.

Munkuli had gone to collect fish for supper when he heard a loud scream. Hr rushed back to investigate and saw several crocodiles floating nearby.

Despite a community-led search using a small boat, Moyo could not be found.

The following day, ZimParks rangers shot one of the crocodiles, which subsequently vomited human flesh.

The remains were recovered and transported to Binga Mortuary, where they await repatriation to Jotsholo for burial.
