Police to reduce roadblocks starting next week as Govt introduces new system

Speaking during a hearing by the portfolio committee on transport and infrastructural development, Home Affairs Minister, Ignatius Chombo revealed that police will from next week reduce the number of traffic roadblocks to four per province as Government introduces what he termed a zoning system.

Said Chombo:

We have now made a zoning system where roadblocks will be put according to province. A province should not have more than four roadblocks. Prime objective of roadblocks is to detect, prevent and eradicate crime our interest is to look for robbers, human trafficking had up-scaled recently. There is also drug trafficking and we need to curb such.
