Former advisor to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Petina Gappah has asked ousted Vice President of the opposition MDC to clarify on a number of issues with regards to the leadership crisis in the party.
Responding to Biti’s Tweet which suggested that the MDC will not go to Congress before 2024 which is a direct violation of the ruling by the Supreme Court, Gappah said:
The plot thickens! Will 2024 be the 6th congress of an old party or the 2nd of a new? And did MDCA celebrate 20 years in 2019 or 1? In fiction, you can use “retcon” or retroactive continuity to change the past to rewrite the future. I am enjoying this inventive political retcon!
Let’s make this point once more for the umpteenth time . The MDC Alliance was not a party to the Supreme Court litigation. It was neither an Appellant nor a Respondent. Judgment does not bind us. It’s a brutum fulmen. Adv @nelsonchamisa is our President. Our next Congress is 2024
Meanwhile, Douglas Mwonzora who was reinstated by the Supreme Court ruling as the party’ Secretary-General said that those who will boycott the Supreme Court sanctioned congress will risk having decisions made by others on their behalf.
