Gweru Wards Off Typhoid Fears

The City of Gweru has made it public that reported typhoid cases from last week were poisoned food cases and not typhoid cases, ZTN Reports.

According to the publication, 2 teenagers died last week and people suspected that they died of typhoid, however, postmortem confirmed that the teenagers died of food poisoning.

Gweru Mayor speaking to the publication said:

As the local authority we were worried about the safety of residents. So we wanted to establish the cause of death of the two teenagers. We were informed by police that the boys had died of poisoning.

After we got the report that there was a diarrhoea outbreak and two people had died, we immediately took our water for testing and it was declared safe for drinking
