The City of Bulawayo has warned residents and stakeholders that its water-shedding schedule will be disrupted from today, Thursday, 8 October 2026.

Acting Town Clerk Edwin Mzingwane said the disruption was caused by maintenance work by the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) at Esigodini CSC, which will run from 6am to 6pm today.

He said the power cut will temporarily affect pumping at the Ncema and Fernhill pump stations, on both the raw water and clear water bulk pipelines that supply the city.

This will reduce the amount of raw water pumped from Ncema to Criterion Water Treatment Works and the treated water sent on to Tuli Reservoirs, lowering levels in the city’s distribution reservoirs.

The water-shedding schedule is expected to return to normal once power has been restored and reservoir levels have recovered.

Mzingwane urged residents to use water sparingly and responsibly in the meantime.
