An unknown number of robbers raided Mufuti Clinic in Chegutu on Thursday night, where they assaulted three staff members and stole cash and mobile phones.

The gang pounced around 9 pm, smashing doors with iron bars and causing damage to infrastructure, provincial nursing officer Farayi Marufu told The Herald.

“They went on to attack two nurses and a nurse aide, demanding money. Two of the nurses sustained deep cuts on the forehead and received treatment today at Chegutu District Hospital. The robbers made off with $250 and some phones,” he said.

A police report was filed, and several suspects linked to the attack were arrested on Friday morning after one of the nurses positively identified them.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Mashonaland West provincial spokesperson Inspector Ian Kohwera confirmed the incident, saying investigations are ongoing.

In an unrelated case, a businessman and his family were terrorised by four armed robbers at their home in Chisipite, Harare, in the early hours of Monday.

Shou Mel Lin, 55, chief executive of Happy Day Sanitary Wear, was attacked at around midnight. His two children were injured during the ordeal, and he was rushed to hospital, where he was admitted.

According to a report by H-Metro, the gang was armed with two unidentified rifles, a crowbar and an axe.

They used the crowbar and axe to break down doors and ransack the house. Both implements were later recovered at the scene.

The robbers made off with a handbag containing US$10,000 in cash, a pistol, diamond and gold jewellery worth US$80,000, and three Oppo cellphones belonging to the occupants. They then fled in his black Toyota Fortuner, registration ACW 5892.

The security guard manning the property was left tied up with shoelaces.

The case was reported at ZRP Highlands under RRB 6847035.
