The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has warned the public to stay clear of a fraudulent website purporting to represent its Smart Traffic Management System.

In a statement issued on 22 September 2026, Chief Staff Officer Press and Public Relations, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said the force has no relationship, association or link whatsoever with https://zrp.ess.co.zw/, which claims to be the official portal for the ZRP Smart Traffic Management System.

Commissioner Nyathi stressed that the site is not an official ZRP platform and is not authorised to represent the traffic system or any other police service.

Members of the public are advised not to register on the site, not to transact through it, not to make any payments via it or any links associated with it, and above all not to download any files, applications or other content. Any message, link, advertisement or social media post directing people to the address should be treated as suspicious.

The police have urged people not to provide any personal or financial information through the portal, including national identification numbers, driver’s licence details, vehicle registration numbers, telephone numbers, banking details, PINs or One-Time Passwords.

The ZRP said it has engaged the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) and other relevant arms of government, with comprehensive investigations now under way to identify the person or persons or entity responsible for the website and to establish the circumstances surrounding its operation.

Appropriate lawful action will be taken against those found to be involved in activities intended to deceive or defraud members of the public, Commissioner Nyathi said.
