DStv unveils major package overhaul

DStv has announced a major overhaul of its package offering, promising simpler choices, more sport, more channels and fewer repeats.

The changes take effect from 17 September 2026 and will initially apply to South Africa only, with the rollout to the rest of Africa following later in the year.

The overhaul includes new package names, revised channel line-ups, updated pricing and automatic migration for existing customers.

According to DStv, the aim is to make its offering “simpler, clearer and offer more of what you want.”

The company said some channels will close as part of a move to “concentrate on fewer, stronger channels” and reduce repeats, but stressed that customers will not lose entertainment as a result.

South Africa will now have six core packages: Starter, offering more than 85 channels from R99 per month; Select, with more than 100 channels from R299 per month; Sports, with more than 115 channels from R399 per month; Movies and Series, with more than 115 channels for R500 per month; Premium, with more than 130 channels from R799 per month; and EasyView, with 35-plus channels for R30 per month.

Premium and EasyView will remain unchanged in terms of offering. Compact Plus customers will stay on their current package unless they choose to switch, as Compact Plus will no longer be available to new subscribers.

DStv said migration begins on 17 September 2026, with the new packages also becoming available to new subscribers from that date.

Existing customers do not need to take any action, as they will be automatically migrated to the equivalent new package, and will not pay more once migrated.

No new decoder is required, and customers do not need to update the DStv Stream app, as updates will be deployed as normal.

DStv said any changes affecting countries outside South Africa will be communicated once confirmed, with this expected later in the year.

Details please. Why was his arrest “unlawful”?
Did the ZRP not follow proper procedure? Was he not doing anything suspicious? When I was arrested i n 2002, the ZRP did not tell me I was under arrest, or on what charges. Those were made up the day after.
