The Ministry of Mines and Mining Development has extended the deadline for small- to medium-scale miners to regularise their operations to 31 December 2026.

The extension follows a request by the Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF) for a 90-day moratorium on the regularisation deadline for small-to medium-scale miners.

Under the new arrangement, miners have been given additional time to clear outstanding obligations and secure the surveyed coordinates required to regularise their mining claims.

The previous deadline was 30 August 2026.

However, the Ministry said the new deadline of 31 December 2026 will be final, with no further extensions expected.

Miners who fail to regularise their operations, clear outstanding dues and secure surveyed coordinates by the deadline face forfeiture and enforcement action under the Mines and Minerals Act [Chapter 21:05].

Meanwhile, ZMF has been tasked with mobilising its members to comply with the requirements during the extension period.

The federation is also expected to submit periodic progress reports to the Ministry on compliance levels among its members.

The extension gives affected miners several more months to bring their mining operations and claims into compliance before the expiry of the final deadline at the end of December.
