Highlanders Football Club has been plunged into mourning once again following the death of its finance officer, Sihlalisiwe Mnkandla.
Board member Elkanah Dube confirmed the sad news on Monday morning, saying he had just been informed by a member of staff.
“I have just received this sad news from one of our employees. I don’t have full details yet, but I am rushing to the office now where I am sure I will be able to get full details. Surely this is heart-wrenching for the entire Highlanders family,” said Dube
Her death comes just over a week after Highlanders suffered a devastating loss when three senior executives and a staunch supporter were killed in a road traffic accident.
Chairman Retired Colonel Kenneth Mhlophe, vice-chairman Sifiso Siziba and executive member for finance Nkani Khoza died alongside supporter Mbalenhle Sibanda in the crash on Thursday, 23 July 2026.
The accident occurred at the 380-kilometre peg along the Harare-Bulawayo Road near Mbembesi after their vehicle reportedly hit a cow and then collided with a bus, while the group was returning from the club’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League away fixture in Kariba.
