Koala Park Dragged To Court Over Offensive Odours From Seke Road Cattle Kraals

The well-known Katonha twins, Farai Lawyer and Tendai Mayor, have approached the courts seeking relief over an unpleasant odour allegedly affecting residents living near Koala Park along Seke Road.

In their application for an interdict, the twins have cited the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) as the second respondent, with the Ministry of Health and Child Care named as the third.

They contend that a company operating in the area has been discharging noxious emissions into the atmosphere, which they argue poses a serious threat to public health and the surrounding environment.

The matter is set to be heard before the Harare Civil Court on Tuesday.

“As residents of Chitungwiza, we are enduring an unpleasant smell from Koala Park whenever we pass through the area,” said Katonha.

They further submitted that, beyond motorists and commuters, residents and business operators in the vicinity have also lodged complaints regarding what they describe as persistent air pollution.

It is reported that the Koala Park abattoir recently moved its cattle holding pens closer to Seke Road, a development the applicants argue has given rise to a public health concern for surrounding communities.

Ow..there is a new worse haunting smell every morning just after waterworks, opposite Zororo, where there was once a public outcry after people got wind that a mortuary had been offered land close to the waterworks and the powers that be claimed that this was illegal .
