Kombi Explosion Leaves 18 Dead On Bulawayo-Beitbridge Road

About 18 people are feared dead after a commuter omnibus they were travelling in reportedly caught fire between Chipangali and the Gwanda tollgate along the Bulawayo–Beitbridge Road.

In a brief statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the accident, saying the vehicle “exploded” sometime between 1 PM and 2 PM on Thursday, 16 April.

“Breaking news: The ZRP reports the death of +/- 18 people when a kombi exploded into fire between Chipangali and Gwanda tollgate along Bulawayo- Beitbridge Road between 1300 hours and 1400 hours today. More details to be released in due course,” reads the statement.
