Dynamos Football Club players and executives visited the home of Ronald Mujuru in Tynwald North, Harare, on Wednesday, 8 April, following the tragic loss of his entire family in a road accident last week.
The nation was left in shock after news broke that Mujuru had lost his wife, Lilian (40), and all five of their children: Nokutenda (15), Makanaka (13), Ronald Jnr (11), Rufaro Shalom (7), and Kayden (3).
The accident occurred last Thursday along the Masvingo-Harare highway near the Chatsworth turn-off.
Mujuru is a devoted DeMbare supporter and a regular face at the Glamour Boys matches.
On the day of the burial, Dynamos were in action against Simba Bhora. The team honoured the family with a moment of silence and dedicated their 1-0 victory to the memory of those who passed away.
Yesterday, a delegation including Dynamos CEO Desmond Bvute, Secretary General Divine Sena, and several players visited Mujuru to offer their condolences.
Speaking privately to a reporter alongside prominent fan Chris “Romario” Musekiwa, Mujuru said the club’s visit had helped lift his spirits during such a difficult time.
“I am now a bit lighter after seeing Dynamos coming to pay their condolences,” said Mujuru.
“I feel like a huge lump on my chest has been removed. I am very happy to say the least.
“You know, when you see a team, very close to your heart, a team that is your second home coming to your first home to say sorry, it just means everything…”
The club also gifted Mujuru a VVIP season ticket for the remainder of the year.
