A 24-year-old woman from Chief Zimunya’s area has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment by the Mutare Magistrates’ Court after being found guilty of aggravated indecent assault involving a teenager.
The woman and the 14-year-old victim both reside in the same village in the Chief Zimunya area of Mutare.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), on 23 September 2025, the boy went to the garden to water vegetables. The woman followed him and solicited sexual intercourse, but he refused.
She then forced the victim to undress, pinned him down, and had sexual intercourse with him.
The incident came to light when the victim began passing blood in his urine. He reported the matter to the police with the assistance of his uncle, leading to the woman’s arrest.
The NPA said the sexual abuse of minors by adults, regardless of gender, is a serious offence that has long-lasting psychological effects on the victims.
