Former Zimbabwe national football team coach Wieslaw Grabowski is confident the Warriors can get a positive result against Angola in their next 2025 AFCON Group B match on Boxing Day.
Grabowski watched Zimbabwe’s opening game against Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations finals and was impressed by the Warriors’ performance, despite the 2-1 defeat.
Zimbabwe took the lead early in the first half, but Omar Marmoush and Mohamed Salah scored for Egypt in the second half to take all three points.
Speaking to Zimpapers Sports Hub, Grabowski, who is still based in Harare, said the match against Egypt was one of the best he had seen from the Warriors in recent years, adding that Zimbabwe deserved at least a draw. He added:
“What the Warriors have to improve on is tactical awareness in their box. The most dangerous player is the one without the ball, so marking the player without the ball is vital.
“You don’t give Salah that much room inside your box; he will punish you.
“But all in all, the Warriors played well against Egypt, and I am convinced they will do well against Angola.”
Meanwhile, Knowledge Musona, Sean Fusire, and Divine Lunga, who missed the first game due to injury, trained with the rest of the squad on Wednesday.
