Some Zimbabweans on social media are calling for military police to be sent to Guruve to help track down a serial killer who’s reportedly murdered 12 people in the district over the past few weeks.
The community is living under a cloud of fear, with concerns that the killer may have a long list of targets, mainly widows, in Bosha Village, Magaya area.
Two more people were killed on Monday evening, adding to five members of one family and three others from a different household, as well as a mother and her daughter.
The wave of violence has left locals terrified, with many now sleeping in groups in an attempt to protect themselves and catch the suspect.
Villagers say a list, allegedly naming both the victims and intended future targets, is circulating within the community, adding to the fear and anxiety in a district already plagued by violent crime.
According to some villagers, the list was found attached to a broken-down scotch cart and has now been handed over to the police.
Police have named Anymore “Modho” Zvitsva, 32, as the prime suspect, and are offering a reward for any information leading to his arrest.
