Aspiring African filmmakers, directors, scriptwriters, producers and storytellers can now apply for the 2026 intake of the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF), the pan-African film and television training institution.
The fully funded programme, designed to empower young Africans with filmmaking, production and storytelling skills, offers a unique opportunity for graduates to bring African stories to life on the world stage.
Having recently become part of CANAL+, MultiChoice has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering compelling content across the continent.
The 2026 programme introduces a comprehensive curriculum that balances theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience.
Delivered over nine months through a hybrid format, the course combines interactive online learning with intensive in-person training at academies in Kenya, Nigeria, and Zambia.
Since its inception in 2018, MTF has trained 296 filmmakers, producing over 42 movies. Students gain insights into the business of filmmaking while learning from industry experts.
Participants are also required to create their own movie projects, which are aired on DStv and GOtv channels, including Maisha Magic, Zambezi Magic, and Africa Magic, as well as on the streaming platform Showmax.
Graduates of the programme enjoy high success rates. Many secure roles within the MultiChoice ecosystem, while others establish their own production companies—over 50 have been launched by alumni to date.
MTF promotes hyperlocal content, empowering African creatives to tell authentic stories, a model that has already brought international recognition. Alumni have won awards at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), Kalasha Awards, Uganda Film Festival, and Women in Film Awards, among others.
They also collaborate with global industry players at events such as the European Film Market and the Durban FilmMart.
The skills and knowledge acquired at MTF enable graduates to become catalysts for cultural enrichment and economic growth within their communities, while positioning them to compete on a global scale.
Applications for the 2026 intake close on 27 February 2026. Interested candidates can find more details about the programme requirements at https://apo-opa.co/3XW53oE.
