The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has called on parents and guardians to keep a close eye on children following two tragic drowning incidents reported on 28 November 2025 in Bulawayo and Harare.
In the first incident, a three-year-old girl tragically drowned after falling into a toilet pit filled with water, around 2.5 metres deep, while playing at a house in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo.
On the same day, a two-year-old boy died in New Mabvuku, Harare, after falling into a well approximately six metres deep at a residence along Gurudzi Street.
The ZRP has urged the public to take extra precautions to prevent similar tragedies.
The Police stressed the importance of securing open water sources, pits, wells and other potential hazards around homes and communities to ensure the safety of young children.
Young children are naturally curious and often unaware of danger; therefore, close supervision is key to avoiding such heartbreaking accidents.
