CAPS United have appointed former Ngezi Platinum Stars coach Takesure Chiragwi as their new head coach.
Chiragwi will be joined by former CAPS United head coach Ian Bakala, who returns as his assistant. Tinashe Nemgomasha comes in as team manager, Cloudious Gundudza takes charge of the goalkeepers, while Garry Muchakata and John Vera have been appointed as performance analysts.
Speaking at the unveiling of the new technical team in Harare on Friday, 28 November, CAPS United president Farai Jere said his ambition is for the club to win the 2026 Castle Lager Premiership title.
He also dismissed reports suggesting that CAPS United had missed out on Norman Mapeza, who has now been appointed as coach of Scottland. Said Jere:
“I was reading an article which was actually talking about how we were trying to negotiate with this coach, and then we lost him at the last minute, which never happened.
“We know the coach we wanted, and we went for him. Our head coach is going to be Mr Takesure Chiragwi.
“He is going to be assisted by coach Ian Bakala. This is the setup which we had at the beginning of the year, before we failed to secure him.”
Chiragwi has also brought in several players from Ngezi Platinum Stars, including Richard Hachiro, Talent Chamboko, Kudzai Chigwida, McDonald Makuwe, Nyasha Gurende, Obriel Chirinda and Delic Mulimba.
Former Herentals winger Davison Marowa has also joined CAPS United.
Chiragwi officially begins his new role on 1 January 2026.
