The government has urged the private sector to partner with the State in a nationwide effort to construct more schools, amid a current shortfall estimated at approximately 1,900 institutions.
Primary and Secondary Education Minister Torerayi Moyo said the government recognises the urgent need to expand access to quality education and ensure that every child in Zimbabwe can learn in an inclusive and equitable environment. Said Moyo:
“In light of this challenge, I am calling upon the private sector to partner with the government in a national effort to build more schools.
“Education is not solely the responsibility of the state; it is a shared societal obligation.
“The private sector has the capacity, innovation, and resources to complement government efforts, and together we can accelerate the pace of infrastructure development.
“We invite investors, philanthropists, faith-based organisations, and community-driven enterprises to collaborate with us in constructing schools that meet modern standards and serve the diverse needs of our learners.
“Whether through public-private partnerships, build-operate-transfer models, or direct investment, your contribution will leave a lasting legacy in shaping the future of our children and our country.
“Let us act with urgency and unity. Every child deserves a classroom, a teacher, and a chance to thrive.”
