Police have confirmed that they have located the Masasi High School students involved in sexual activities captured in a viral video.
In a statement released on 29 September 2025, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said they had identified the complainant, a 17-year-old student, along with the two suspects, both aged 16. The ZRP said:
“Reference is made to the ZRP’s X post on 28/09/25 in connection with the viral social media post on sexual activities by Masasi High School, Marange students.
“The ZRP has located the complainant (17) and the two suspects, all aged 16. More details will be released as inquiries continue.”
In an unrelated case, a 24-year-old man from Mt Darwin appeared before the Mt Darwin Magistrates’ Court facing a charge of rape.
The allegations relate to an incident on 13 August 2023 in Kazura Village, where the accused is said to have unlawfully engaged in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl who, due to a mental disability, is legally unable to provide consent.
According to the State, the complainant raised the alarm during the incident, prompting community members to intervene and report the matter to the police, leading to the accused’s arrest.
The case is scheduled for trial on 30 September 2023 at the Bindura Regional Court.
