A man from Dzivaresekwa, Harare, identified only as Blessing, is being sought by police after allegedly raping the daughter of his former partner on two separate occasions.

According to the police, Blessing had been stalking the young girl following the end of his relationship with her mother.

The first incident occurred on 2 August 2025 at approximately 8 PM, when the girl was walking to a community borehole to fetch water.

Blessing allegedly intercepted her and forcibly took her to an unfinished house nearby, where he raped her without using protection.

After the assault, he reportedly offered the girl US$2, which she refused. He then threatened her with violence if she disclosed the incident.

Fearing for her safety, the Grade 5 pupil did not report the matter.

A second attack allegedly took place on 10 August 2025, again around 8 PM, when the girl went outside to collect plastic materials for lighting a fire.

Blessing is said to have confronted her once more, dragged her to the same unfinished building, and raped her before fleeing into the night.

On her way back home, she encountered her mother, who questioned her about the delay.

The girl remained silent, but her mother noticed grass on her back and signs of semen on her underwear.

She immediately took her daughter to Dzivaresekwa Police Station, where the child disclosed the assaults.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case and has appealed to the public for any information that could assist in locating Blessing. Said Insp. Chakanza:

“Police are investigating a rape involving a juvenile and her mother’s ex-boyfriend.

“Accused person is still at large and the complainant was escorted to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for medical attention.”
