Scottland handed FC Platinum their first loss of the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season with a stunning 5-2 victory at Mandava Stadium on Saturday, ending the former champions’ 22-match unbeaten run.

Former FC Platinum star Walter Musona opened the scoring for Scottland from the penalty spot in the 10th minute after being fouled in the box.

The hosts responded through Shephard Mhlanga’s well-taken effort, but Tymon Machope restored the visitors’ lead with a crucial strike on the stroke of half-time.

Machope wasn’t done. He grabbed his brace just three minutes into the second half, before Moses Shidolo extended Scottland’s lead to 4-1 with a composed finish in the 64th minute.

Wilfred Muvirimi pulled one back for FC Platinum, but any hopes of a late comeback were quashed when Albert Manenji sealed the win with a stoppage-time fifth.

The match also marked the debut of veteran forward Knowledge Musona, who came on as a second-half substitute for Scottland. Midfielder Mafious Chihweta also made his first appearance for the club after joining from Highlanders last week.

At Wadzanayi Stadium, log leaders Simba Bhora edged Chicken Inn 1-0 thanks to Junior Makunike’s 43rd-minute goal. The victory keeps Simba Bhora at the top of the standings with 47 points from 24 matches.

Dynamos finally returned to winning ways, narrowly beating MWOS 1-0 at Rufaro Stadium. Despite being reduced to 10 men following Shadreck Nyahwa’s red card, the Glamour Boys won through a late penalty from Temptation Chiwunga.

However, DeMbare remain in 17th place with 19 points—still six points away from safety.

In other fixtures, GreenFuel edged ZPC Kariba 1-0, and Manica Diamonds recorded a similar scoreline over TelOne. The match between Yadah and Triangle United ended in a goalless draw.

Simba Bhora remain top with 47 points, just one ahead of second-placed Scottland FC (46). MWOS sit third on 42, while FC Platinum, despite the loss, are fourth with 40 points and a game in hand.
