Chamisa Ally Calls Hopewell Chin’ono A Drunk Dog

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activist Makomborero Haruzivishe has described journalist Hopewell Chin’ono as a drunk dog that has gone rogue.

This comes after Chin’ono has criticised CCC leaders of failing to fully take advantage of the Al Jazeera Documentary “Gold Mafia” and expose alleged ZANU PF corruption and incompetence to the electorate.

Chin’ono also said CCC was as dead as a dodo which means something is no longer effective, important or popular and this angered CCC leader Nelson Chamisa’s loyalists.

Posting on Twitter, Haruzivishe said Shabba has gone rogue again in an apparent reference to one of Chin’ono’s dogs. He said:

Lol Ambassador Shabba has gone rogue again.

A dog that forgets its mandate in society is problematic.

Instead of barking thieves away, Shabba is busy biting the victims of robbery.

If it’s whiskey then Shabba must self-quarantine till sober.

Imi muchinyanya, munopirei imbwa doro.

In response, Chin’ono warned CCC that their toxicity will cost them votes in the upcoming general elections. He tweeted:

Calling me a dog with the blessing of your leadership is what makes CCC unattractive to many who chose to keep quiet and watch you tear your party into pieces!

I have never been CCC & I will never be part of a ZANUPF B which insults and calls people Dogs! Good luck with 2023!

Award-winning author Tsitsi Dangarembga urged the protagonists to exercise restraint and acknowledge that they are both to blame for the fallout. She said:

Perhaps there could be some kind of apologies all around. Obviously, people were very hurt by the Dodo comment. Perhaps a clarification.

In the same way, the dog video is a completely unacceptable response to a felt insult. We have to build bridges to each other.

Meanwhile, senior CCC official David Coltart defended Chin’ono saying journalists should be allowed to speak freely. Said Coltart:

This entire episode is unfortunate. Every country needs a robust 4th Estate, which isn’t partisan, holds no political ambition and exposes and promotes truth in public discourse.

Every single democratic political party needs to accept it will be criticized & that is good for it.

Responding to Coltart, Chin’ono wrote:

Thank you @DavidColtart for understanding that reality. With that coming from an elder and a veteran of the struggle like yourself, I draw a line in the sand and put the entire saga behind me.

It benefits nobody except the corrupt, and as such, I won’t comment on it anymore!

  1. Being impervious to criticism makes you the same or worse than your adversaries. In fact it is showing us who are the leaders of the party. With such an attitude you never win hearts. Tone down. We are the people and you MUST listen!!

  2. Hopewell is 100% correct, hence the anger. Expectations are NOT being met and we are seeing less responsiveness to the operating environment. No response means …………..? Homework. We need to be persuaded and listened to. No anger, malice or tantrums? OK?

    1. The language from ccc guys have chased a lot of potential swing voters , come election results they will want the world to believe they lost by rigging, why people warm up to ed is because of the thick skin to insults and call for peace, this is what we see over a bottle beer and we have a vote, from ccc they called ed chidhanana, mupurwa and many more but he laughs, because that is the price of leadership – they know you better always

      1. Extreme radicalism is very retrogressive to any struggle. Extremely radical elements are often implants by the enemy of the cause. The CCC leadership must be wary of such people who pretend to be more loyal than loyalty and more revolutionary than the revolution itself. Insults to a journalist while one is claiming to fight for justice is self defeating.

        1. That’s BS Chinono is not a think tank for everyone. Who is he to call us Dodo 🦤 that’s his homework. We cannot cry for a vote that didn’t come our way. He must behave. CCC is fighting hard 💪 and it’s not the opposition in parliament.

  3. Perhaps the CCC are wiser than Hopewell. Al Jazeera is making an allegation based on subterfuge. Its narrative is based on a conversation between crooks. Al Jazeera lied about who they were, and the other parties, Uebert Angel and others were making claim, which is just their word. Can they be verified? Who is the complainant? I think there are people in the CCC leadership who know how the gold trade in conducted. Its Hopewell who is misdirected if not foolish here. Who is going to present witness account that the allegation by Al Jazeera is true, for the law enforcements agents to take action. The people mentioned are licenced gold delears. What is the expectation of them when they buythe gold? Isn’t it, they want to trade with it? It is possible to evidence that Chidodo instrumented his team not to search passengers luggage? How can anyone prove that the dollar notes on their person is ‘dirty’ or ‘clean’ money ?

  4. That’s my problem with ccc, they are very self righteous, immune from criticism, not capable of making mistakes. I will not vote such people regardless of my problems with the current regime. If they behave like this in opposition, what if they get in government?
