English Championship side West Bromwich Albion are reportedly interested is signing Zimbabwean midfielder Marvelous Nakamba on loan from Aston Villa.
Nakamba, who has been openly told to leave Villa having been struggling for game time this season, is set to move before the end of the January transfer window at midnight today.
His agent revealed yesterday that he was working on finding the Hwange-raised midfielder a new club and West Brom have, according to the Birmingham Mail, emerged as fronter runners for Nakamba’s signature on a loan deal.
Nakamba moved to Villa from Belgian side Club Brugge in 2019, and had a decent debut season in the English top-flight before the coach who signed him, Dean Smith, was sacked and replaced by former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.
In total, Nakamba made 58 appearances for Villa and is one of only four Zimbabwean players to have featured in the English Premier League.
We are not yet there to produce players who can make it in the Premier League but the media hype these mediocre players. The media destroy these players whilst they are not successful at all.

You can’t be serious guys! Do you know what people like Bruce, Peter and Benjie dd? We produced the first African EPL player! Peter was 17 when he was good enough. We are capable. Nakamba is a great player but coaches have different preferences. He had some man of the match displays. He blocked the most number of balls in several games. His strength is on intercepting balls. A good coach needs to build on that. He needed psychological help.
Zimbabwean journalists give falls information about players. I think they will be trying to get handouts. Nakamba was never good enough to play in the egl
A player who has not scored even one goal . It’s problematic
Proud of you Nakamba
Nakamba is just an average player what else did you expected him to do. We had prolific players the likes of Moses(Razorman Chunga) , Peter( The flying elephant) Ndlove who were socer genius and had natural talent. Marvelous Nakamba is in the class of Benjani Mwaru wari who played in the English Premier League because of lucky.
