South Africa: Bank Of Former Finance Minister Tito Mboweni Hacked And Raided
The bank account of South Africa’s former finance minister Tito Mboweni was hacked by thieves who stole R19 000 from him on Saturday night.
Mboweni told Sowetan on Sunday that the money was taken from his cheque account but he refused to disclose the name of the bank. Said Mboweni:
Somebody hacked into my cheque account and started taking money out. I noticed this around 7pm. My banking app informs me when there are transactions in my account. So there were transactions that had nothing to do with me.
FeedbackThis is a banking matter. It is being dealt with by the bank. The bank has its own fraud squad and they are dealing with that. Let’s leave the matter there.
Mboweni refused to disclose if the money was taken all at once saying he did not want to be interrogated about a personal issue adding “I have given you enough information.”
